Easy Korean Beef

1 pound ground hamburger or turkey
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. soy sauce
1 Tbs. sesame oil
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. crushed peppers
1 bunch of green onions chopped

 Cooked Rice

In a large skillet brown meat. Drain off the fat.

In a separate bowl mix together 
all the other ingredients besides green onion. 
Pour over cooked and drained meat. 
Simmer together for a few minutes.
Then put over the cooked rice 
and garnish with green onion. 

I usually double this recipe for our family!

Oven Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken


6 chicken breasts1/2 c. flour
salt and pepper to taste

4 tbs. butter- for cookie sheet

3/4 c. sugar
4 tbs. ketchup
1/2c. apple cider vinegar
1 tbs. soy sauce
1 clove garlic crushed

In a large ziploc bag put flour, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Cut chicken into cubes and put into ziploc mixture.
Coat evenly by shaking around. 

Melt 3 tbs. of butter and cover bottom of cookie sheet.
Place the coated chicken breasts on the butter and bake at 350 for 20 mins.
While the chicken cooks mix remaining ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil. 
After the 20 minutes of chicken baking remove and turn. 
Then pour sauce over top and bake another 20 minutes or until done.

Serve over rice!

Chocolate Layered Pudding Dessert

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 1½ cups Cool Whip
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Homemade chocolate pudding-recipe on the blog
  1. Combine butter, flour, and pecans together and press into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, then cool.
  2. Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, 1 to 1½ cups Cool Whip, and vanilla extract together. Pour over cooled crust.
  3. Make chocolate pudding. Pour over cream cheese layer.
  4. Top pudding layer with Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream. I prefer homemade whipped cream. 
Garnish with Hershey's chocolate bar shavings or heath chips for decoration if you want. Chill and keep refrigerated.

Oven Baked Honey Glaze Chicken

6 chicken breasts

1/2 lemon juice
2 tbs soy sauce
1/2 tsp ginger
1 clove garlic crushed

Then pour sauce over top and bake another

Rocky Road Candy

Melt in a saucepan:
1 pkg. chocolate chips
1 pkg. butterscotch chips
1/2 c. peanut butter

When all melted add:
3 c. marshmallows
1 small can of peanuts

Mix together and pour into a greased 9x13 pan. 
Let cool and cut into squares.

Favorite Sugar Cookie

3 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tarter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 c. shortening or butter
3 tbs. milk
2 eggs
1 tsp almond extract

Mix all the dry stuff in a bowl and then 
cut in the shortening or butter until crumbly.
Add the wet stuff until mixed.
Roll the dough out and cut into shapes. 
Best if about 1/4 inch thick.
Bake 350 for 10-12 minutes.
Don't over bake. 

Frost with cream cheese frosting.
Recipe on the blog. 

Pistachio Salad

1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple
1 pkg. pistachio pudding

Stir together and add:

1 small tub cool whip
2 c. mini marshmallows
1 c. chopped nuts-optional

Chill and serve! 

Buttermilk Syrup

2 c. butter milk
2 cubes butter
2 c. sugar
2 tbs. karo syrup
2 tsp. vanilla 
2 tsp. baking soda.


Boil this all together until thickens.
Serve over pancakes or waffles. 
Store leftovers in the fridge. 



Cowboy Coffee Cake

Combine in a large bowl:
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar not packed
2/3 c. shortening or butter

Mix well with hands and take out 1/2 c. of the mixture for the top.

Then add:
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs

Stir all together and pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
Sprinkle the mixture you took earlier out on the top.
Bake at 375 for 20-25 mins. 

Serve warm with fresh fruit or fruit smoothie! 

Grandpa Hank's Jerky Marinade

1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. pepper
1/3 c. worcestershire sauce
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. ketchup
1/2 tsp. liquid hickory smoke

Mix together and pour over 3 pounds of meat 
thinly sliced. Cover and refrigerate several hours. 
Place the meat strips on the dehydrator trays. 
Then dehydrate according to the directions of your machine.
If you don't have a dehydrator you can put the meat on 
cookie sheets and set in the oven overnight on the lowest setting.
